More Than Words® works on the principle that while a Speech Language Therapist or other specialist might have contact with your child up to once a week, you are with your child all the time. By helping your child to increase their communication there is a long term positive effect on their development in addition to a therapist's efforts.
To make this work there needs to be a high degree of commitment from you. By being actively involved with your child throughout the course, the techniques you've learned will become part of the routine within your family's day-to-day life.
We recognise that not every child on the autism spectrum has the same needs and the program takes this into account. We will spend time with you and your child in your home and help you to focus on what matters. This course provides ongoing information for you and your child as you continue your work together at the end of the eight training sessions.
